Ashwagandha root extract
Ashwagandha root extract capsules (KSM-66) — clinically studied adaptogen for stress reduction, cortisol balance, sleep quality, energy, and physical endurance.
Sea moss, ashwagandha, blue lotus, spirulina, shilajit and more — botanicals beyond mushrooms.
Our herbal botanicals collection gathers the plant, algae and resin supplements that complement our mushroom range — everything from mineral-rich sea moss and adaptogenic ashwagandha to blue lotus, spirulina, shilajit, pine needles and propolis.
These botanicals stand on their own or round out a wellness routine. Sea moss is a whole-food source of trace minerals and is studied for thyroid and skin barrier support; ashwagandha is a classic adaptogen for stress; blue lotus is a traditional relaxation botanical; spirulina is a dense green superfood; shilajit is a mineral-rich resin; propolis is the bee-made resin valued for immune support. Many customers pair these with functional mushrooms from our reishi and lion's mane collections.
Formats range from capsules and powders to gels, resins and tinctures, so you can slot each botanical into your routine however suits you. Start with our sea moss dosage guide if you are new to whole-food mineral supplements.
What this collection is. These are the non-mushroom botanicals we stock: adaptogens, marine and mineral supplements, and traditional preparations that sit alongside functional mushrooms rather than replacing them. They come from very different traditions — Ayurvedic, Egyptian, Caribbean, Eastern European — and they are not interchangeable, so it is worth reading each on its own terms.
Three of these have contraindications people frequently miss, and they are worth knowing before you buy rather than after.
Ashwagandha is contraindicated in pregnancy — it has traditional use as an abortifacient. It is a nightshade, may raise thyroid hormone levels, and is immune-stimulating, so anyone with a thyroid or autoimmune condition should speak with their doctor first. Rare cases of liver injury have been reported.
Sea moss is a marine algae and concentrates iodine, in amounts that vary enormously between harvests. Both iodine deficiency and excess cause thyroid dysfunction, so anyone with a thyroid condition or taking thyroid medication should get medical advice before using it daily. We would also rather not repeat the widely circulated "92 of the body's 102 minerals" figure — it has no sound scientific basis. Sea moss is a genuinely useful source of iodine and some minerals, and that is enough.
Shilajit is the one product here where sourcing is a safety question rather than a quality preference: unpurified material can carry heavy metals, and traditional Ayurvedic preparation includes a purification step for exactly that reason. Buy only purified, batch-tested material and treat unusually cheap shilajit with suspicion.
A fourth note: spirulina is not a usable source of vitamin B12, despite how often it is marketed as one. Its B12 is predominantly pseudovitamin B12, biologically inactive in humans and possibly competing with real B12 for absorption. Vegans should take a genuine B12 supplement and not count spirulina toward it. Our lab certificates are published for the products where purity testing matters most.
