Amanita Muscaria

Amanita Muscaria

Premium dried fly agaric, powder, capsules, tinctures and gift sets — lab-tested and carefully dried.

Amanita Muscaria

Our Amanita muscaria collection brings together every format of the iconic red-and-white fly agaric in one place — from whole premium caps to convenient capsules, powders, tinctures and infused coconut oil. Each batch is wild-harvested from clean forests, slowly dried to preserve its active compounds, and lab-checked before it reaches you.

Not sure which format suits you? Whole dried caps (premium, grade A and grade B) give you the most control and the best value per gram, ideal if you prepare your own tea or decarboxylate at home. Powder is the same mushroom, milled fine for easy dosing in capsules or drinks. Capsules and tinctures take the guesswork out of measuring, which is why most people exploring microdosing start there. If you are buying as a present, the Amanita gift box pairs a curated selection in ready-to-give packaging.

Whatever you choose, potency depends on species, drying method and storage — we cover all of it in our guides on checking quality, safety and how to take amanita. New to the mushroom entirely? Start with what fly agaric actually is and the current science. Prefer the closely related panther cap? See our Amanita pantherina collection.

Choosing a format. Dried caps are the traditional material and the only form you can inspect visually — you can see exactly what you have. Capsules remove both the taste and the per-cap variability, since they are filled from a single homogenised batch. Powder is the choice where a uniform, freely dispersible material is needed. The tincture measures in finer increments and absorbs faster, since sublingual absorption bypasses digestion. These are not equivalent by weight and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Why drying matters chemically. Fresh Amanita muscaria is high in ibotenic acid. Drying converts a portion of it into muscimol through decarboxylation — a process dependent on both heat and time, where too much heat degrades muscimol and too little drying leaves more ibotenic acid unconverted. This conversion is the single most important variable in how the material behaves, and it is why fresh and dried caps are not interchangeable in any sense. Ours are dried at low temperature over an extended period for this reason, not for appearance.

Sourcing and identification. Every batch is wild-harvested in the Carpathians, hand-sorted and verified to species before processing, with lab certificates published. Species verification precedes milling and extraction because neither a capsule nor a liquid can be visually identified by the buyer. The genus Amanita also contains the deadliest mushrooms known — the death cap and destroying angel — which is why we do not encourage self-foraging without formal mycological training.

Safety and legality. Amanita muscaria is a toxic mushroom. Ibotenic acid is a neurotoxin, and adverse effects — nausea, vomiting, muscle twitching, confusion, dysphoria, and at higher amounts delirium and loss of consciousness — are well documented. Sensitivity varies substantially between individuals and potency varies between batches and seasons. Not for anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, under 18, or with a history of seizures, liver or kidney disease, or a psychiatric condition. Never combine with alcohol, sedatives, benzodiazepines, GABAergic drugs, MAOIs or other psychoactive substances, and never drive or operate machinery. Legal status varies by country and changes over time — verifying your own jurisdiction before ordering is your responsibility.

Frequently asked questions

The grades reflect visual quality and cap integrity, not a different mushroom. Premium caps are the largest and most intact with the brightest colour; grade A are whole, well-formed caps; grade B includes smaller or partially broken caps at a lower price. The active compounds are comparable across grades — grade B is simply the most economical choice when appearance does not matter to you.
Choose dried caps for the best value and full control over preparation, powder for easy blending and home-filled capsules, ready-made capsules for consistent pre-measured servings, and tincture for a fast, portable liquid format. Many customers keep dried caps for tea and capsules or tincture for convenience.
Amanita muscaria is unregulated in most countries and legal to buy and possess, but a few regions restrict it. Always check your local laws before ordering. See our shipping restrictions page for the countries we cannot ship to.
Keep it in an airtight container away from light, heat and moisture. Stored correctly, dried caps and powder remain stable for well over a year. A cool, dark cupboard is ideal; adding a food-safe desiccant sachet helps in humid climates.
