Mushroom Powders

Mushroom Powders

Whole-mushroom powders you weigh by the gram — Lion's mane, Reishi, Cordyceps, Chaga, turkey tail and more.

Mushroom Powders

The mushroom powders collection is for people who would rather weigh a serving than swallow a fixed one. Each functional powder is the whole mushroom, dried at low temperature and milled fine, so it stirs straight into coffee, tea, smoothies, porridge or soup. It covers Lion's mane, Reishi, Cordyceps militaris, Chaga and Trametes Versicolor (turkey tail), a concentrated Phallus Impudicus 10:1 powder extract, botanicals such as ashwagandha root and organic spirulina, and three ready-mixed drink powders for training, focus and sleep.

Powder or capsules? The choice is flexibility versus concentration. Our functional mushroom capsules hold 500 mg of 10:1 dual extract each — roughly 5 g of dried mushroom condensed into one capsule. A powder is the whole mushroom, unconcentrated: you set the amount to the gram, build it into a drink you already have every day, and pay considerably less per gram of mushroom. The trade-off is volume and taste — you take more material, and some species, Reishi above all, are genuinely bitter. Our powder versus capsules comparison and the guide to extract ratios explain how the two compare. For a fixed serving with no taste, see mushroom capsules.

How to use them. The mild powders — slightly sweet Lion's mane and nutty Cordyceps militaris — disappear into coffee, cocoa or a smoothie; mushroom coffee covers what to expect from that habit. Chaga, Reishi and turkey tail are traditionally prepared as tea: simmer the powder for 10–15 minutes (Reishi for 15–20), then strain it or let it settle. Because the material is already milled, there are no hard chunks to break up, as our Chaga formats compared guide shows. A typical amount is 1–3 g a day, but follow the serving on each product page and keep the routine steady rather than taking large amounts occasionally.

Blends for training, focus and sleep. Three flavoured powders combine a mushroom with supporting ingredients: Performance pairs Cordyceps militaris with creatine, citrulline and betaine; Focus pairs Lion's mane with citicoline, L-theanine and caffeine; and Recovery Sleep pairs Reishi with ashwagandha, magnesium bisglycinate and glycine. Focus contains caffeine, so count it towards your daily intake. All three are also in the sport & performance collection.

Amanita powders. The Amanita muscaria, Amanita pantherina and royal fly agaric (Amanita regalis) powders are a different category from the functional mushrooms above: they contain ibotenic acid and muscimol and are not interchangeable with them. Each product page states its intended use, safety information and legal status — read it, and the Amanita muscaria collection, before ordering, and check your local law and our shipping restrictions.

Storage and quality. Milled material exposes far more surface area than whole dried mushrooms, so it is more sensitive to moisture and air. Keep each pouch tightly resealed in a cool, dry, dark cupboard — not above the kettle or in a humid bathroom — and always use a dry spoon; stored this way, the functional powders keep their quality for 24 months. Discard powder that clumps, darkens or smells musty. Our guides to storing extracts and powders and to mould and mycotoxins in mushroom powders explain what to look for. Prefer to mill your own? Whole caps, chunks and fruiting bodies are in dried mushrooms.

Frequently asked questions

They do different jobs. A whole-mushroom powder is the full mushroom, unconcentrated, so you take a larger amount and control it to the gram. A 10:1 extract condenses about ten parts of dried mushroom into one, so a small amount goes further. Choose powder for flexibility and value per gram, and extract capsules or tinctures for a smaller, fixed serving.
Most of our functional powders suggest 1–3 g a day (Cordyceps militaris 1–2 g), starting at the low end for the first week. Follow the serving on each product page, as it differs by species. If you take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a health condition, check with a healthcare professional first.
Yes. Lion's mane, Cordyceps militaris and Chaga mix well into coffee, cocoa and smoothies; stir the powder into a little warm liquid first so it does not clump. Reishi and turkey tail are better simmered as a tea, and Reishi is noticeably bitter.
The Lion's mane, Reishi, Cordyceps militaris and Trametes Versicolor powders are whole fruiting bodies, dried at low temperature and milled. Chaga is the wild sterile conk (sclerotium) that grows on birch. None of them is mycelium grown on grain, and none contains fillers or flow agents.
Keep the pouch tightly resealed in a cool, dry, dark cupboard and always use a dry spoon. Powder absorbs moisture faster than whole dried mushrooms, so avoid humid places such as a bathroom or the area above a kettle. Stored this way, our functional powders keep their quality for 24 months.
